The long hot days of summer are supposed to be when we get our big outside projects completed. This year with so much wet weather, it has been a challenge for homeowners, but just imagine the scope of the challenge if you are the Town. Our congratulations to the Town Infrastructure staff and their contractors for pulling off a large number of projects, while facing unpredictable weather.

Road Improvements

This summer, the Glen’s south core has benefited from a pavement management project that has improved Beaver St., Erin St., Karen Dr. and Mullen Place. A special thanks to Town staff for ensuring that Beaver St. and Erin St. had their new smooth asphalt bases ready in time for the annual form-up of floats for the Canada Day parade.

To help with traffic calming, the Town hired a contractor for the layout of asphalt painted optical bars and SLOW signs along sections of Wildwood Rd. and Prince St. Graham Construction has been brought back by Town staff to address sod replacement as part of Wildwood Road project.

At the western entrance to hamlet, good progress has been made with the new right turn lane off Hwy 7 that should provide safer access to Ontario St. and Wildwood Rd. And these are just the Town’s projects for the Glen!

Subdivision Prep Work

Charleston Homes is using the summer months to step up their work hauling in fill to rehabilitate their Bishop Court Phase 2 subdivision site at the top of Confederation St.

For the period July 3 and Sept. 1, 2017, Charleston Homes has been approved by the Town’s Site Alteration Committee to move 80,000 cubic metres of fill onto the site. This involves 225 trucks per day (= 450 trucks trips to and fro) operating from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Mon. to Fri. No hauling on Sat., Sun. or Stat. Holidays. The approved haul route from Brampton follows Mayfield Rd., River Dr., Confederation St. to the Bishop Court Phase 2 site, and return. The Halton Regional Police have been asked by the Town to ensure that the trucks comply with the speed limits and all traffic rules.

Eden Oak, the developer for Creditview Heights subdivision may be doing some surveying this summer, but they do not plan to begin any site work until the fall of 2017 at the earliest. The exact date depends on the Town and agency staff’s review of the owner’s submissions and the clearance of the various conditions, before authorization will be given to begin any work. To keep Glen residents informed, the Town Planning staff have revamped the Town’s Eden Oak project website to include an informative FAQs section. Check out the new info on the Halton Hills website (Eden Oak – OMB).

Enjoy the rest of your summer. Let’s hope the weather will cooperate so we can all get our projects completed!
