Mayor’s Task Force on Public Engagement

As a result of the Town’s handling of recent development proposals and infrastructure projects, the GWCA and many Glen residents advocated for the improvement of Town public information processes to support stronger public engagement. In June, Town Council approved a report on Public Engagement to improve Town practices. One recommendation of this report was the creation of the Mayor’s Task Force on Public Engagement. A 14 member team of citizens from across Halton Hills has been formed. Scheduled meetings to date include July 20, August 24 and Sept. 7. Two Glen residents, Mark Rowe and Drew Leverette, are serving on this Task Force.

Let’s Talk Halton Hills

The Town wants to hear your thoughts on what you expect in the way of collaborative public engagement, when it comes to development proposals and infrastructure projects for your Glen neighbourhood. To this end, they are piloting a public engagement software platform called “Let’s Talk Halton Hills” http://www.letstalkhaltonhills.ca Please look online and be sure to complete the short Public Engagement Survey – look for the hotlink button at the bottom of the homepage. Residents are encouraged to use the open ended comment boxes to express their views.

Glen Williams Workplan

Over the past year, GWCA Board Members and Glen residents have attended many Town Open Houses and Council meetings advocating for the Glen’s inclusion in the Town’s Study to support the Character of Mature Neighbourhoods and the need for a review of the Glen Williams Secondary Plan. In June, the Town listened and responded by approving the Glen Williams Workplan, covering a plan for a Glen Williams Mature Neighbourhood Character Study in the Fall of 2017 and revisions to the Glen Williams Secondary Plan in 2019.
