Canada Day in The Glen 2017-10-19T17:46:20+00:00

This wonderful annual event attracts people from not only Glen Williams & Georgetown, but also other surrounding communities who come and participate in a free, fun-filled day in Glen Williams. We invite everyone to watch the parade and enjoy the activities, entertainers, musicians, food and crafts in the park. We provide this all free of charge, with the exception of the food and craft vendors.

We offer free parking and a shuttle bus to and from the Real Canadian Superstore, who have generously loaned both their parking lot and provided one of the two shuttle buses that run between the Superstore and Preston’s Store and which we encourage everyone to make use of as there is very little parking in the Gen itself

The Parade starts everything off, leaving Alexander Street and Confederation at noon.

The event involves hundreds of volunteers to pull this all together. They decorate the park and the parade route. They organize the parade. They man the parking lots, the entry gates, help out at the Pet Show, run the information booth, assist with manning road blocks, helping traffic and just about everywhere else that they are needed including the shuttle buses.

It is followed by the Official Opening Ceremonies, and then the rest of the afternoon is a free funfilled afternoon, with a variety of activities, games, a pet show, and music. It all comes to a close with the annual Duck Race down the Credit River, which has some amazing prizes for the winners.

Please come and join us, or better still, come and volunteer for a couple of hours, and help make it a wonderful, happy day.

The evening is lots of fun too! Stick around for the annual Canada Day BBQ and fireworks down the road at St. Alban’s Church on Main Street. Practically speaking, you must reserve for the BBQ so the organizers know how many chickens to order ahead of time. Keep an eye on the calendar or subscribe to the newsletter for more information as it becomes available.

The impressive fireworks display starts after dark – around 10PM. Everyone is welcome and free-will donations are much appreciated to cover the cost of this great spectacle. Bring your own lawnchair and mosquito repellant!

2017’s Most Patriotic Town in Canada: Halton Hills!

Snowbirds honour Halton Hills as Canada’s most patriotic town with flyover (The Independent Free Press).

Sarah & Scott Simpson of Glen Williams based Yorkshire Enterprises helped organize the event.

Canada Day in The Glen is organized by The Glen Williams Town Hall. If you would like to be involved in the Glen Williams Town Hall and all they do, meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. A great way to get to become a part of all that goes on in the Glen.
